Also, make a note to always ask for referrals and aim to have all your future leads generated by referrals. This is the true secret to success.</p>

<p><span style="color: #0000ff;"> </span>A few days later, I quit the captive insurance company I was working for and found a semi-captive final expense brokerage called Equita (I called and asked their representative: &#8220;Can you make a living selling final expense?&#8221; He sold me before we hung up and this was the beginning of my new career).</p>
<p>I learned a lot working for Equita Final Expense and they provided a lot of support and training but, in exchange, I had to sacrifice commissions and limit myself to only selling companies they were contracted with (this is very limiting and ends up costing you sales).</p>
<p>When I became independent, not only did my commission go up but also I had so many more companies that I could choose from. So if someone just had a heart stent implant put in last month, I was able to get them insurance. If somebody had cancer a year ago, I could still get them insurance at a decent rate. I wasn’t forced to sell Equita’s more expensive coverage. The fact is, there are a lot of companies out there that will insure anybody but it is very expensive.</p>

<p>All you need is your insurance license for the state you live in, a few life insurance companies that offer final expense at a reasonable rate, a little knowledge on how to get someone approved, a final expense presentation and leads for final expense insurance.</p>

<p>My final expense appointment setter is so good that when I arrive at the house, the door is literally open, with the welcome mat hanging on the door.</p>
<p>Seriously! They know my name, they remember my appointment setters name and they are ready for my presentation. It truly makes my life a lot easier.</p>
<p>My appointment setter tells us in her interview with <a href="http://www.finalexpense101.com/join-now" >www.finalexpense101.com/join-now</a> that the tone in your voice will set you up for success in scheduling your final expense pre set appointments; simultaneously, it will also make the prospect more comfortable to invite a stranger into their home.</p>
<p><strong>Some helpful hints:</strong></p>
<p>1. Don’t address prospects as if you already know them.  This confuses people and then they just feel tricked by you. They&#8217;ll feel you are just trying to get something out of them.</p>
<p>2. Be humble. Start a conversation with, “I am sorry that I have not gotten back with you sooner.”  This helps them to feel they have the upper hand and are more in control.</p>
<p>3. Remind them that these pre-set final expense appointments will only take 10-15 minutes of their time and we are only there to see what they qualify for and give them some information to take a look at.  This will help them to not feel pressured.</p>
<p>4. Many people might already have life insurance and think that final expense is the same thing.  Don’t get into it too much in detail but try to word it in a way that they think it&#8217;s more than just a life insurance plan.</p>
<p>5. It is just your job to set the appointment. If they ask what the rates would be, just let them know you only schedule appointments and the representative can tell them which programs they will qualify for and get them all the information.</p>
<p>Divert away from mentioning they are going to have pay anything so they don’t feel like they are going need to be on guard because a sales man is coming over.</p>
<p><strong>Important Words To Use:</strong></p>
<p>1. &#8220;Program&#8221; instead of &#8220;Plan&#8221;. If people are worried they&#8217;re going to be sold something, this helps them to not worry they&#8217;re going to be pressured.</p>
<p>2. &#8220;Qualify&#8221; and &#8220;Benefits&#8221;. People like to know what they are going to get out of something.</p>
<p>3. &#8220;Representative&#8221;. Always say we have a representative who will stop by to see what you qualify for.  Even though you may only be scheduling for one person this gives an impression that your company is well established.</p>

<p>Selling final expense over the phone is definitely attractive and I get many agents that are looking to get into this side of the business. I mean, you get to stay home, make a few calls and bring home six figures a year. Who wouldn’t want to sell final expense over the phone?</p>
<p>But there are many problems that arise and make it so most agents just can’t succeed selling over the phone. The biggest road block is getting enough quality final expense leads to work with and the then you have to deal with the impersonal aspect of the phone. I mean, it is a lot easier for someone to slam the phone down then it is to slam the door in your face.</p>
<p>Other road blocks that you face are the lack of trust seniors have in giving information over the phone (especially bank information). They don’t know who they are talking to and since senior scams are rampant, seniors naturally get nervous when it comes to their personal information. Most of them would rather see you face to face and know who they are talking to. Even then, you are faced with trust issues. You have to really present yourself in a way where they feel comfortable and willing to share their personal information with you.</p>
<p>None of these things disqualify final expense telesales from being a viable option. You just have to understand that these road blocks exist and can prevent you from being successful; however, if you are one of those agents who can overcome these hurdles, you will find yourself living a very comfortable life, making a few calls a day.</p>
<p>Successful telesales agents average 8-12 final expense presentations a day and close around 50-65% of those presentations. These agents claim that you don’t need to be face to face to gain their trust. You just need to be able to build their trust quickly over the phone and this is a skill that can’t really be taught. Some people just have a way with words, tone and presentation. You just immediately trust them. If you are one of these people, I’d say final expense by phone will work great for you.</p>
<p>The main thing you have to consider is your lead source. You can burn through a lot of leads, really fast by selling over the phone. Personally, I have found that in order to get enough leads, with out spending all your savings, you have to generate your own leads. Maybe you hire a telemarketing company to call for you and either do live transfers or maybe you use an auto dialer or just call your self using a speed dialing system? I mean, if you can get one sale a day by calling yourself, you will be making decent money, with little to no lead cost.</p>
<p>I&#8217;d say that if you are confident in your knowledge of final expense products and feel you are strong enough to handle callers over the phone and gain their confidence, then go for it. Come up with a lead generation plan and find your companies that will take voice signatures over the phone. The companies I know of are as follows:</p>
<p>1. Foresters Life Insurance</p>
<p>2. Madison Life Insurance</p>
<p>3. Assurity Life Insurance</p>
<p>4. Baltimore Life Insurance</p>
<p>5. Lincoln Heritage LIfe Insurance (You have to record the call)</p>
<p>6. Forethought Life Insurance (Depending on the IMO)</p>
<p>7. Americo Life Insurance (depending on the IMO)</p>
<p>8. Standard Life and Accident</p>
<p>However, I personally like the face to face approach. I like to just stay local and see the customer face to face. I&#8217;m good on the phone and I can sell over the phone but with something like Final Expense, I prefer to play it safe and go to their house. Its up to you.</p>
